5.0 tpi non roller cam?

I recently blew the engine in my 88 trans am, i bought a short block 305 that was rebuilt with a crane cam. The motor that was in the car orginally had the roller cam with roller lifters. can I put my original heads on the motor without changing the lift pins. the roller lifters are taller then the normal lifters and i do not want to mess the heads up. anyone with answers please write me back.
thanks

You need to get the correct length pushrods for the non-roller cammed 305 ($40.00 @ Autozone, just ask for pushrods for say a 1983 Chevy Truck 305). The heads can possibly be re-used. That depends on what Crane Cam the 305 was rebuilt with. You have the potential to have too much lift for the stock 081 heads. The stock valvesprings might as well be childrens toys, if the cam is much hotter than stock, use the recomeended valve springs for the camshaft. The stock cam alone can benifit from better valve springs.
