Amazing gas mileage...
So i just thought that i would post up some info that i gathered from my trip from San Jose to LA. First off i have to say that i am very impressed with my car for not having a sinlge issue on the entire trip! But the best part was that i made it on ONE tank of gas...the mpg for the trip was 26! and thats cruising highway 5 at 70 the entire time. I know it sounds crazy but its true. Just felt like posting this because i know alot of tpi guys dont get that great of mileage now but if the car is in good condition, its definetly possible.
To add to the story i thought it was funny that 90 percent of the people that got pulled over were driving a toyota prius, just because you get amazing gas mileage doesnt mean you can speed. Anyway thats my story, i am even more proud to drive a 3rd gen after that trip.

With tuning you could probably squeeze a little more out of it. My old L03 got close to 30 MPH on the highway. My previous 300+ HP 350 got around 28 MPG on the highway. I would say that if you have highway mode available in your ECM and you can adjust the timing and lean the AFRs out a little, 28-30 is feasible.

OMG that is amazing, if i`m right on my math my car (90 GTA 350 TPI) is getting a whopping 8 mpg right now.
if i got 26, i`d be so happy, there rated for 22 mpg, so you beat it by 4 mpg, thats a nice chunk.
and please god people tell me how to get 30 mpg outta my GTA PLEASE LOL

Re: Amazing gas mileage...
it really really depends on driving habits. some people hold the throttle nice n steady, some people tap dance on it while they cruise. ive watched my MAF sensor values while cruising before, if im holding steady lets say its about 20 g/sec. if i give it a little throttle to mildly accelerate, it quickly goes up to 40-60 g/sec! therefore, double or triple the amount of gas as well. so if im on n off the pedal, its crummy mileage. i think someone paying attention to driving smoothly can do a lot better than the cruise control also.

26 is fairly easy on hwy if stock and driven right.
That pirus on the hwy was likely getting the same MPG as you. They do worse on the hwy then intown. But as I always say, buy and/or build to your use.
I filled up today and got 12mpg intown
I gotta work on this tune. I use to get 20 intown.
