I started with a Stock 86 Iroc 305 TPI with Auto and swapped in a rebuilt 305 TPI from a Trans Am. The 87 305 is a factory roller while the 86 305 was not. I added Hooker headers, Ported Plenum, SLP runners, stock Throttle Body. Heads and Engine are 87 as stated. All the TPI parts were completly redone so they were not clogged and nicely clean and clear. My problem is I have no codes coming from the computer but the car Idles at 2k constantly. At startup it idles there for about 1-2 mins then drops to normal, when I put it in gear the car stalls and dies unless I tap the gas at the right moment. Even after driving the car fora long time and getting her good and warm, I can put it in park and the idles shoots right up to 2k or more. I dont know where to begin other than getting a computer from a 87 305 TPI and see if that solves the problem. Wouldnt a 87 Roller TPI be fine to replace an 86 non roller 305 though?
