TPI Throttle Spring

Hey guys do the original coil type spring ever go bad or weak? Im asking because someone added a spring and was wondering if the coil spring could be weak. I took off the "added spring" and it felt good and tight anyways. I have a manual so i guess ill drive it and see if i get any throttle return issues.

If worst comes to worst can i put a new spring on??

I did a search and seems like i cant just put a new spring on without taking the TB off and then grinding some spot welds. Can anyone verify this??
