Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

i've never really paid much attention to a stock lt1 tb, but the differences would either be in the smoothness of the design for airflow purposes on the front side, or if the actual blades are larger. If not then i dont see it being much of any different.

and good luck getting the kickdown cable to work, i had to hack together an LT1 throttle cable to use a BBK 52mm lt1 tb with my manual trans. not using cruise either

Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

The TPS has a diff plug design, but can be wired to work okay.
I believe the throttle design is same as 90-92.

Probably not, but probably less wear on it being newer.
Hey, you can always say "I've got a LT1 TB."

Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

I thought the cables were different?

But otherwise, they sell TB's that are dual use. Unless that one has a airfoil in it and yours doesnt, it wont flow any better.

Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

Can't say specifically with the one you have but.

The idle air control and tps devices are different. Like was said above with an adaptor they will work on an L98. On the one I have the thottle cable "drum" was in the wrong spot. All I had to do was relocate it and it worked. This was with a AS&M unit.

Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

by drum do you mean whatever is the stopper for it? i didnt know you could i ended up jimmy rigging an LT1 cable to fit on the tpi bracket cause that had the right length stop in it.

how do you go about adjusting the stopper?

and im not sure why i mentioned anything about the tv cable cause youre not changing that bracket i must have been drunk or something lol

the throttle cable is the only issue, you just need a pigtail for the LT1 tps and youre good to go.

Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

On my 1989 TPI at the end of the thottle cable there is what I will call a lead drum swaged on to the end. This drum slides into the throttle arm. My cable was about 1 inch short from working on the AS&M LT1 throttle body. I was able to relocate the spot where the drum would have slid in into a new location so my TPI throttle cable would work.

Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

Here is a picture of my AS&M LT1 monoblade throttle body on my L98. You can see by the brass ring were the cable drum is installed. About a 1/2" above is the stock LT1 location. Yours may fit I don't know.

Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

oh yours is designed for both, or did you drill that out yourself?
i rigged up an LT1 BBK tb and its not meant for our cars, no where to relocate the end of the cable.

i just grabbed an lt1 cable and it works brilliantly, only issue is i couldnt find a way to properly mount it into the bracket on the intake so i just kind of jammed it in there but its never moved

Re: LT-1 Throttle Body

It is held in place by the throttle cable riding in the groove. I got the brass tube from a hobby shop and it is free floating.
