Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

Sounds like it. It should definitely be changing. That sounds like the max value (ie, an open circuit).

Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

First thing is to clean the connections at both the MAF and the grounds on the back of the passenger side head. I can send you the things to test for later if you have a volt meter.

Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

i verified i had good ground from the maf plug to the negative terminal on the battery, i also verified i had 12v and 5v on the red and green with the key turned on, does that rule out the relay and lean more toward a bad maf.

Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

I'd say yea, looks like the MAF. You could monitor the output while it's running (DC, <5V) and see if it changes.

Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

i hooked up my meter to the signal wire and as i blow on the maf the values change, im about to verify the wire back to the ecm is good, if it is then possibly bad ecm?

Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

Anything is possible, but a bad connection or ground seems more likely. Connect your meter to the ECM end and see if you still see signal.

Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

yes, the values fluxuate with engine rpm, i guess its always possible that my auto xray is just not reading it correctly because when i unhooked the maf while the engine was running and it died shortly after.

Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

Are you sure it's not set for a newer MAP engine?

OK, this is going to sound like a dumb question, but you do know that the scanner has a monitor mode (readings change while engine is running) and then another mode that shows the last reading ( readings are frozen). Check your instructions to make sure you are in the monitor or scan mode. Dont mean to be a smart ***, but I can tell you from personal experience that this is true. Tried to adjust the TPS with the scanner in the wrong mode. Reading never changed.
Also, the car should run with the MAF disconnected, that is a diagnostic technique for determining if you have a basic problem or an electronic one.

Re: Mass air value not changing on autoxray

what i have found with the scanner is if i am in data mode then hit the scan button it will update with whatever values are given right then, i have been monitoring my temps with it since my temp gauge is also messed up. the car is running really good, it has a slight stumble right off of idle, not as bad after i set the tps to .54 closed.
