Re: Cold Weather Idle
ok well i rechecked my TPS voltage is fine. reset my IAC and after i reset itll idle fine for about a minute and then itll go right back to 1500. but when i put it in drive with it idleing like that it goes straight back down to how its suppose to be... this **** is startin to **** me off. please help.
Re: Cold Weather Idle
ah aight i see it now... but you see your problem there is its in a beamer! but i tried reseting everything. disconect the air intake and the intake coolant temp sennsors and still the same. so i figure hay might be my timing well what a dumbass move that was didnt accomplish anything and now i cant get my timing set because it wont idle under 1500. and i kinda forgot whcih wire to dissconnect... this truck is about to get a carb if i cant get it cleared up this weekend.

Re: Cold Weather Idle
my 86' z28 (carbed 350) has been doing the samething. cept my tach is way off so its more like 3000 for me
. yeah i don't know much bout carbed cars(or fuel injected for that matter). but if u figure out the problem i'd love to know. and its way colder were i live (and my heat at full blast only works well enough to slowly defrost my windows and i as don't know anything about how to fix that kinda stuff either
) its not so fun being able to see my breath for my whole ride to school

Re: Cold Weather Idle
chev : no codes? and if you set the idle screw down a little what happens. oh and tps voltage is ok, but did you check to see if tps is good with one of those volt meters with the needles? you also check for vacume leaks?
and i had a pic of a camaro buried in snow, but i giess it didnt work
xbox : choke isnt sticking open is it?

ya no codes. TPS seems to be workin fine. got it set at .5472. voltage climbs real smooth. took IAC out last night, cleaned it put it back in and reset it again. checked for vacuum leaks. couldnt find any. reset comp. idle screw is backed all the way out. reset the timeing. set it on 0* and it was idleing at 1500 and now it wont go below 2000. idk anymore...

Re: Cold Weather Idle
Did you try the adjusting the minimum air? I know you said you cleaned the IAC and the TPS checked out fine, but adjusting the minimum idle can do wonders for thing. There's a tech article on here to let you know how to do it.
Re: Cold Weather Idle
the mininum air is literally backed all the way out.... im gonna get it on the scanner come monday, got the street nationals this weekend
see if i got a sensor sendin screwy info. and if that all comes out fine then im gonna get a can of startin fluid and see if my intake is leakin any.. bout the only thing that i can think of now.

Re: Cold Weather Idle
Just because the idle screw is backed all the way out means nothing unless you do that procedure. People kept telling me to do it when I was having an idling problem and I didn't want to do it, but when I did it fixed it. It's up to you.
Re: Cold Weather Idle
damn nationals got rained out sunday so had to stay for monday. but ya ive done tried... when i crank the screw in it just makes it idle higher. like its suppose to. im gonna throw it on a scanner tomrrow and see if one of the sensors is sendin screwy info.
Re: Cold Weather Idle
ok well sensors all checked out good. went around wtih a can of carb clean and the egr ports are leakin were it mates to the runners, because i've got mix matched runners and intake. so im gonna weld the damn intake up and let er' eat. Thanks for the input guys.
