Price Difference between Mass Air Flow Sensors
I recently bought a '86 Firebird.
The previous owner had removed a bad MAF Sensor and never replaced it.
Looking online, the price varies widely. On RockAuto.com, for instance, the sensors vary from 70 to 390. (Their price list below).
My question is, what is the difference between these sensors? Is the $400 really that much better than the $70?

Re: Price Difference between Mass Air Flow Sensors
I used to think so. However, my old practice of sticking with AC-Delco got shot out the saddle. Could not find any "in stock" so I went with Cardone. After a little digging, I believe the only difference in reman parts is the cleaning, labwork and testing. Perhaps the $400 parts are brand new instead of remanufactured. Might be worth a phone call, if you gotta have new.

Re: Price Difference between Mass Air Flow Sensors
When I needed a replacement MAF for my 86 Vette I found one on a wrecked 'F' body at my local wrecking yard for $50. That was more than three years ago and it's still going strong.

Re: Price Difference between Mass Air Flow Sensors
I bought a new bosch maf and liked the flow numbers of the $80.00 rebuilt one better. I have the rebuilt one on my car now.
