Re: Check engine light MAF?

To run without the MAF it's needs a MAP sensor and the ecm programming to match. I think I saw the MAP in the picture but I'm not sure.

Re: Check engine light MAF?

well your MAF power relay is in the wrong spot (not that it matters) and he obviously broke the tab that holds the harness to it, and you're missing a MAF burn-off relay. part numbers for an '87 are 10067925 for a MAF power and the updated part number for the burn-off relay is 10094701.

your car should be throwing a code 33. what codes is it throwing?

Re: Check engine light MAF?

The diagonstic connector is usually under the dash on the left or right side near the steering column. count the pin holes from left to right, 6 and 12 should be on the far right.
You need the chart/instructions to read the flashing lights.
I think it flashes 3x three seperate times before the codes start.
Count the flashing lights code 25 would be 2 flashes pause then 5 flashes then it flashes the next code if there is one, then repeats flashing the codes only.
ALL Vehicle wiring is a nightmare. Take your time and try not to get too frustrated. A good manual is a ton of help.

Re: Check engine light MAF?

ALCL, or ALDL connector pin out. Jumper Diagnostic Terminal (A) to Ground (B) to flash the codes.

Re: Check engine light MAF?

Plug it in and see what happens. You shouldn't short anything out. The missing relay will give you the check engine light. Put a relay in and start the car. Check Engine light should go out unless there is a wiring issue.

Re: Check engine light MAF?

In your pictures the Fuel Pump relay is laying behind the brake booster.
The MAF burn-off relay is where the Fuel Pump relay should be, but isn't connected.

This thread has a picture posted by MikeInAZ of proper location of relays mounted on the bracket. This is on a T/A thus the driving lamp relay.
