1991 Trans am Air intake
Ok i have been researching a little and am wondering if these intakes off of ebay are any good. I would purchase one with a K&N filter.
Is it worth it, because i hear the intakes on the trans ams and firebirds are pretty bad compared to camaro intakes.
Even tho it is still in the engine bay will there be any power gains?

i dont have one of mine, but my friend that had a 90 trans am with 350 tpi had the K&N at the end of throttle body and he did really well for him actually. Horsepower gain is not much but it certain does the job as an performance intake does. But his was in perfect machanically condition, if your is to, it will do great, if its not then you really wont notice anything.

thats strange, i dont recall my buddies t/a every hissing. It had K&N, msd, and flowmaster and it was pretty sweet actually. The car did the most amazing torque ive ever seen giving 3/4 throttle at 50 mph, that sucker got up hauled some butt leaving my friends mustang in the dust. But idk, sometimes cars a little different, but that was just my expierence i had with the air intake for the K&N when i drove the car some. It was pretty nice, but only my opinion.

Re: 1991 Trans am Air intake
They should call the ebay intakes Hot air Intakes, because as long as the filter is drawing air from the engine compartment it will just be sucking hot air. Building your own would be a good idea just make sure your air source is from outside the engine bay, like a SLP set which draws air through the fender. Just my two cents anyway! My SLP cold air dropped my Formula 350 an honest .3 in the 1/4, I have yet to see or hear about any ebay intake do anything close to that. Good luck!!
