Re: Gas problem

Fuel Pump installed and it runs great hasnt done the noise or the fuel cut thing again. But now after driven for a long time, it kinda smells like gas inside the car. Could this be the timing?

Not likely. Are you sure nothing is leaking? It could also be a bad check valve letting fumes out.

Re: Gas problem

A bad check valve? Well no nothing is leaking, its only after a certain period of time driving. Where is the check valve located.

Re: Gas problem

The check valve is attached to the rear axle on the drivers side with a hose running to the tank. They fail pretty often and are still available from GM.

Re: Gas problem

Thats the Vent Valve...it was already spoken of here...thats not the problem. Well it COULD be the gas smell but i dunno i doubt it. But today the car turned off on me. Its still running weird....i HATE not being able to trust my daily! =[

Re: Gas problem

Ok so i checked the fuel pump again, seems the o ring was the big one it brought not the small one and it needs the small one...so i replaced it with the small one and i think it solved the shutting off and gas smell problem. But Istill feel the car running a bit off. The idle is rough, and sometimes it revs decently high and then sometimes kinda low so it has me worried...im having a big beach group thing on wednesday and im scared to drive the car to the beach! lol Could it be just a tune up. The spark plugs are new, not sure about the wires. I hear a small knock inside the engine too i think cuz of a big oil leak it has(but the oil is still good amount wise) im gonna give it an oil change and some new wires and then when i can afford a cap and rotor ill go ahead and install those...sounds good? Meaning you think that will get rid of my weird rough idle and different idles lol?
