Internal vacuum leak test
Internal vacuum leak test
Is this a proper way to check for an internal vacuum leak?
plug pcv hole with thumb and at the same time plug the vent breather on the other valve cover with your other thumb. if you can feel any vacuum with your thumbs there is an internal leak?
I dont have 2 cars to test this on so i dont know what the difference might be... but on my car there is a slight vacuum sensation that starts a couple seconds after i do this. Its not a lot of vacuum but it is a little.

BUmp
I've got a high idle issue too, and I've read and tried almost everything, this is my last idea...
My next to last idea is a 195 thermostat, engine tops out at 174* according to the scanner, so I'm guessing it has a 180* in it instead of the factory 195* everything else looks normal, no codes, no vac leaks, new IAC... it's an 1988 TBI 454
