350 squeaking

Hello! I recently bought myself a 1987 camaro IROC-Z with the L98 350tpi. I have 2 kinda of squeaking.

1) I start the car up, some sort of squeaking from the engine bay occurs but quickly goes away. Then, whenever I rev it the squeaking is back. Also happens when acceleration.

2) When turning the steering wheel to a certain point left or right I get this awful squealing noise

Also, when my camaros at idle, it's around 500-700 rpm and sounds like it's about to stall on me...but never has.

Thanks alot everyone! I'm relatively new to the camaro scene. Well, to the automotive seen as this is my first vehicle

Re: 350 squeaking

well the squeak is the alternator belt, get that thing tightened by loosening the 2 alternator bolts, get a long bar and pry on the alternator to tighten the belt, before letting go of the bar, tighten the 2 bolts and you should be saved.

and for this steering thing i would suggest the same thing, your belt is just loose. unless this squeak is only happening when your at the end of steering travel left and right.

Sounds like belts that need tightened or replaced. The P/S belt on a multi belt setup can be tricky.

Ok cool thanks alot...I'vee try tightening it later on today. As for the steering squeak, it only happens when you are at the end of steering travel...this isn't bad is it?
