89' 305tpi computer/electrical problems

i'll keep this nice and short to make sure people actually respond...

i've had this car since 2003, and atleast 5 times, i've gotten a check engine light, changed my ECM and the code went away.

all 5 times were different codes

changing the ECM is getting costly....

now i have code 42, cant figure it out, dont want to change the ECM again.

any ideas

42. Fault at electronic spark timing circuit OR Fault at direct ignition system OR Fault at fuel cutoff relay circuit

Check distributor connections. How does the car behave when the light comes on?

Re: 89' 305tpi computer/electrical problems

the car is running rough, liek its not going into EST mode lol, but does that mean the car isnt using spark advance or something? i mean i plugged in my laptop w/ tunerpro RT and i saw it advancing the timing when i hit the gas....
