Alright, I have a 87 tpi setup with a prominator in a 165 comp.its twin turbocharged with 42 lbs injectors. when it starts it runs fine. but after getting it up to operating temp (190) I shut it off and it wont start again. I have to let it sit for awhile. I cant tell you exactly for how long because it always changes. sometimes 5 min, sometimes 30 min. Its driving me crazy. Especally when I have to shut it off at the gas station. Anyone have any ideas???

 

could be a bad solenoid, or a bad battery ground

Yeah it runs ok when it wants to run.

Let me clarify my original post. It cranks over. I'm pretty sure it has spark because the tack bounces while I crank it. It seams like I get no fuel but my fuel pres is at 45. And like I said it wont start for awhile after its warmed up.

 

when the engine is cold it needs a rich mixture to start. When hot a rich mixture will cause hard starting, You have 42lb injectors at 45 psi. If they are greentops they are rated 42 at 39. so you have 44lb injectors at that pressure. Does it smoke when it fires up like its loaded up. How are the plugs? Read them. Your tune might be a little rich. The fuel trims might have to be reprogrammed. Try lowering the FP to 35 and see if it starts better.

 

I was watching my BPW in winaldl while cranking and shouldnt I be getting some kind of numbers here? while cranking it just shows 0.00

 

I fixed the problem. the startup pw was to lean at the temp i was trying to start it.

i don't understand what you found wrong with your car. i have the same problem with my car. starts right up when its cold but after it warms up it spins over for 15 seconds before it starts up and then it blows black smoke. i thought the injectors were leaking down into the cylinder so i replaced them. still does not crank right with the new injectors. i have a 86 tpi with a painless wiring harness running a speed density computer. i think TPIS burned the chip for my 327. car runs fine, just the hard starting when its warm. i put a msd blaster coil on it but no help. the fuel pressure would fall off quick when i had the guage on it after the motor was sut down. hence the injector replacement. the 9th injector is pluged off also. i don't have the stuff to data log but no check engine lights are on. so what did you find wrong wit yours?

 

fuel pressure regulator air, check for fuel in your vacuum lines

 

SO EXACTLY WHAT DID YOU FIND WRONG AND HOW DID YOU FIX IT
