so if i was to toss out the 305 engine and put in a 383 i could reuse the intake but i would probably need new injecters?

Re: quick tpi question

The tpi was designed for the 305 so it starts to become a restriction on the 350.For a 383 it would be a major restriction. That doesnt mean people dont do it.The 383 would be faster than the 305 and have more power but would benifit even more from an aftermarket tpi intake or other form of EFI or carb induction.Yes you would need bigger injectors.Try out the .It can be a major PITA sometimes but every question you could prolly come up with has most likely been answered.welcome aboard

Re: quick tpi question

Using a standard TPI on a 383 is a terrible idea. You have several options, none of them cheap. You could switch to an Accel Super Ram intake, you could switch to a TPIS Mini Ram intake, you could switch to a Holley Stealth Ram intake, you could change the entire EFI to an aftermarket system like a Comander 950 from Holley, or you could have an LT1 intake modified to work on your engine (do a search there is a lot of info on this on this forum). Best case scenario you are goign to spend $500, worst case well over $1,000.

However, to build a killer engine like a 383 and then saddle it with a TPI intake would be just as foolish as continuing to run stock exhaust manifolds. Modifying these EFI cars is more expensive than a car with a carb, but the rewards are well worth it.

Re: quick tpi question

the intake manifold itself will be after market to start with comes with the engine. Yes i knew the stock tpi is restrictive but it is also something i can use till i put on a bigger intake. So my question is if the stock TB and runners off a 305 are the same size as the stock TB and runners off the 350?

yes.The lower manifold may need to be modified depending on what heads toy`re going to run.

Re: quick tpi question

im buying the engine completed with dart heads and an aluminum lower intake so i think that the plenum and runners would hook right up. correct me if im wrong but i believe vortec heads is the only head that requires special intakes.
