Top speed is set by how much HP your engine makes, if you are not hitting a rpm or mph limiter. These limiters usually cut the fuel completely and it will seem like the motor shuts off above those limits. After going below the set points everything goes back to normal.

Your "governor" is likely your exhaust, intake, or well worn engine.

???

(OR) It is your governer. I've heard that your governer is set based on your tires. Anyways, the governer basically prevents you from accelerating past its preset top speed, which in your case is 110ish MPH (same with mine).

You posted this same question in 5 sections? And I replied in one.......

Dunno if this would work on TPI cars, but I see no reason why. Its just a matter of bypassing the VSS.

The governor is set in the ECM, you will have to reprogram your chip.

Yes, bypassing the VSS or I've heard of people reprogramming the computer.

Its not about what tires you currently have installed, its about what tires came from the factory. The speed rating on the tires, if I remember correctly, determined what your speed limiter was set at.

But if you plan on going 140+ mph you had better have tires that can handle it or you could be in a world or hurt. Basically if you have tires only rated at 110 mph it is not advised to go any higher than that mph.

I have a question that relates to this. 7 years ago my car would lay its speedo needle on the miles reset button and keep on haulin. Ive done something terribly wrong because now its shutting off at 106. I dont even make it to 110. Did somebody have the chip set before I bought it and I reset it?
