Roller rocker problem

I just put in comp pro magnum 1.6 roller rockers, and they are noisy. I adjusted them one cylinder at a time making sure that the rocker being adjusted was on the base circle of the cam. I tightened the rocker until the pushrod could not be jiggled up and down and then gave it another 1/2 turn for preload. It's louder than a solid lifter setup and just sounds terrible. Are these rockers supposed to be like this?

Re: Roller rocker problem

I would readjust them and increase the pre load to almost 3/4 turn.

Re: Roller rocker problem

i'm not sure if what your experiencing is normal ,but i ran mine 1/2 a turn preload and readjusted and readjusted from 1/2 to 1 turn tons of times on a fresh motor with jegs brand roller rockers, they still sound noisier than the factory stamped style, just my experience though.

Re: Roller rocker problem

Adding more preload did not stop the noise, so I put the original rockers back in. It's still ticking, so the noise is not coming from the rockers. Here is a clip of the ticking.

Re: Roller rocker problem

From that clip it sounds like an exhaust leak.Maybe it sounds different in person?

Re: Roller rocker problem

It's amazing. Whenever I change one thing, something else always breaks at the same time. I was able to trace the problem to bad exhaust manifold gasket.
