I tried those E3s but as soon as I started the car, it was shaking really excessively so I changed them back to standard Autolites and everything went back to normal. I am sure I purchased the correct ones for my car as they are unadjustable.

Any similar experiences? Something to do with E3 design that does not fit our camaros maybe..? Too much sparking..?

 

Color me not surprised. Its a marketing rip off and nothing else.

 

Run Delco plugs first

If unavailable run Autolite.

Trust people who race, been around it and use lots of boost.

I go with what I know, have seen and others know worked.

Never run into problems that way.

 

I installed E3's on my 1988 L98 and they work great - idle was smoother than with the original plugs (57K). No issues at all. HP TV did a dyno run using these plugs and they seemed to perform well. I don't like the fact that they are made in China. I agree that Autolite makes an excellent plug.

 

HP tv is nothing but a long commercial. And yea any new plug will perform better than plugs that have been in a car for 57k miles

 

Bad luck here with them to. My 305 shook with them. I changed over to autolite and have had no problems. My brothers Jeep cherokee 4.0 had its oil pressure raise a lot with them too. I say don't mess around with spark plugs and stay with what people have had good luck with.

 

yeah, just a sales gimmick. Just like those "pulse" sparkplugs... you can't reinvent the wheel...

 

LOL. And I thought I was the only one thinking that block of programming was just advertising and some...good ideas. Talk about pushing Royal Purple and O'Reiley auto parts.

 

Care to explain how the oil pressure went up with new spark plugs?

 

I have no idea. But his oil pressure gauge went as high as it could go and his engine always ran hotter than normal. I thought his gauge was broken. Two weeks later when we put the stock plugs back in the gauge went back down to normal. I wish I knew. Maybe somebody else could give some incite on how this could be?

 

changin the plugs, you probably fixed the connection on the oil sending unit, when the harness is unplugged from the sending unit, the gauge will always be maxed. so the plug was probably loose and someone touched it just right to correct the connection. nothing magic here.

 

I put E3s in my 88 GTA LB9 and love them. The car idles smoother and I can tell a difference over AC Delco rapidfires, especially at highter RPMs. Did you replace the other ignition components or just the plugs? Sometimes the wire terminals pull loose on the inside when you take the boots off of the plugs. I was skeptical about these plugs but after running them I probably won't use anything else.
