Re: harness
Ive never seen one in the internet. Call GM. I do believe that there are some in Summit or Jeggs. If memory serves me right, I think it was listed as around $400. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it.

I was born in Huntington Park but just after birth my parents moved back south so I dont remember anything. In 2005 I lived in Rialto but then moved to Hemet. I worked all over the Inland Impire and as far North as Rosemond. But the housing market crashed and the company I worked for began to lose work and ineviably I was laid off. Sucks. What city u from?

Re: harness
86 was MAF ; not SD.
If your harness is for SD TPI, it will have this connector for MAP sensor http://www.tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/2343
coming out of engine harness that connects to the injectors on pass side The MAP sensor is directly above # 6 & 8 injectors.
A MAF harness has this connector http://tpiparts.net/inc/sdetail/816
on the pass side engine harness right out the front , pass the connectors that plug into the TB (TPS /IAC ) sensors.

Re: harness
Sup bro. yup, I already have the 350 block in the Camaro. All I got to do is finish routing the vacuum hoses and set the timing. I cant do it in one day because Im married and have 3 kids. I work graveyard and my wife works in the evenings. My Camaro is at my grandmas house where my 45 year old uncle still lives. Hahahahah. He is 45, and his last girlfriend he had was in High School. So he pretty has no life other than side side jobs as a mechanic. Im using the same setup. TPI. Everything bolts up correctly. See, whether your block is a 305 or 350, TBI or TPI, the block itself is all the same. The only differences are that the 305 cylinder walls measure under Approx 4 inches where as the 350 block is pretty much 4inches. You cant bore out much from a 305 block because the cylinder walls are not as thick as the 350. If you have a 305 in the Camaro and want to take it out to replace for a 350, I suggest use the 305 heads with the 350 block because the 305 heads have the big valves. Also the 305 heads will have more material in the combustion chamber and that means more compression. People will tell you not to do it but when I ordered my master overhaul kit and pistons, Summit racing told me to either use 305 heads or 327 heads. But the cool thing about Chevy blocks in our f-bodies is that whether its a 305 or a 350, everything bolts right up. The obious difference is the intake setup. Keep in mind that some blocks that are the the same (casting number wise), can be 2 bolt main or 4 bolt main. Another difference is the valve train. Some blocks have roller lifters and others have the tappets (solid lifters). If you go and buy a block from some one, take a 1/2 inch socket set and try to turn the crank at the crack shaft bolt to verify if the block is siezed. If the crank spins rather smoothly ( with the spark plugs removed) then chances are that youve got a good block. I found my block at a privatly owned junkyard. It had been sitting in the bed of a truck for about 4 years uncovered. I had it dipped in acid, power washed and magnafluxed. I had to retapp all the bolt holes to remove sand and rust. Now Im almost ready to fire it up. well i think we are in the wrong thread to be talking about this. P.M. me if you have anymore questions. I will be more than happy to help you out man. Peace.

Re: harness
Sorry bro. You would have to get a wiring diagram which tells you the color of the wire to so that you can match em. On the Haynes manual it gives you the wiring diagrams but of course you would have to dish out around $20. I guess the only big problem that you would have is the connections itself. for example, For my 86 IROC Z, it has a 4 prong connector as for the 87 IROC Z, it has a smaller 4 prong connector and another that remotes to a seperate coil. It really gets complicated bro. you would have to have your Camaro next to another IROC-Z model to use as a reference if you choose the wire up yourself. If you have the time, assoon as I get my 86 completed, I can send you pictures of the connectors so that you can get an idea of what you need. But then agian, I think you have have to visit the junkyard to get a ECM that belongs to an IROC-Z because the prom is already programed for the sensors that are involved in the Tuned Port Injection System. It'll be a challenge bro, but if you are determined and have time, and with a little extra money spent here and there, you'll get it going. Let me know whats on your mind. Peace.

Re: harness
Yup. To burn a PROM costs serious money. But if you look in junkyards or on ebay perhaps, you can find a ECM for the year that you need. for only around $100. The DYNO shops will say anything just to make a quick buck. I will garantee you to that they will never say "look in a junkyard."

Re: harness
VATS - Vehicle anti-theft system, measures the resistance in the pellet in your key. you have a 1 in 15 chance that your key pellet will match. wrong resistance = no start

Re: harness
hmm as i recall there is a way to re-pin your TBI system to SD TPI, since TPI is batch fireing. its a sticky on the TPI forum. i do not know if that will utilize yourcurrent ECM or not though. BUt that will at least give you your TPI harness. as for the ECm you would either need to have the VATS edited out of your prom, or find a PCM thet they know the vats resistance, otherwise you can get some resistors and make each of the 15 values till you find the one you need and bypass the system.
