Re: EGR temp sensor has been discontinued

Hello All!!

The item will work the same way, at the same temperature, however the other part #14087416 for our F-bodies has the white clip on it, and the wire is longer!! Therefore as is, in theory it will work, but in reality, it won't!!

Modify it, (extend the wire) and it will work!!

Nice to see you guys have an option now. To bad my buddy had to sell his IROC because of this problem and not being able to pass emissions because of the check engine light. Well glad your all good to go now.

Since this is important to the external EGR I'm fabbing to use a Miniram on a 88 GTA, did I read correctly and the vette switch goes in the tube from the exhaust to the back of the intake before the EGR valve and not in the valve like the FBody unit?

Correct.
The EGR valve on a Vette TPI is located in the same position under the plenum but the exh gases to it come from the pass side exh mainfold , through the crossover tube ( w/ switch ) shown above then through a internal passage in the base to the valve

Well said vettoz. I didnt know there was such a difference between the vette intake manifold compaired to the other TPI intakes.

Re: EGR temp sensor has been discontinued

First I wanna say i am having Nox issue which I feel are EGR related and this thread has been quite helpful!

That being said, my car is 91Z factory 350 TPI car and i have the old style two round pin connector not the newer "metra pack" style, I found that odd. Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Re: EGR temp sensor has been discontinued

Take a look at this item http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...85780106838105

Notice the California sales tax which is 9.25%. Well I live in California and to my knowledge, here in my county (Imperial Valley), the sales tax is 8.75%. Is it possible that this ebay store is abusing and trying to make a profit by posting a high tax?

Hello Chevy86 IROC-Z!!

Check your tax rate again!!

You have different tax rates for different counties, maybe they charge the highest California, County Tax Rate, just to make sure they aren't ripping off Uncle Sam and his brother IRS!!

No kidding.

At least it took a while for this thread to get derailed. Hats off to the Mods.

You should try the forums at www.bobistheoilguy.com. It takes maybe three posts before the train runs off the tracks. Like this thread:

Hello All!!

If the "posts" in the thread have a natural progression and are related to one another but don't mention the subject line, can't you say that the thread is not derailed, but mearly it has taken a different spur?????

The train is running.....however, it's not stopping at my town ("EGR Temp Sensor Has Been Discontinued"), because it's on another spur line!!! It's all related in a convoluted way!!!

Someone is bound to get it!!!

Gotcha!!

. I still agree that the train has derailed. The last subjects are in fact a progression relating to the thread, but the thread clearly states what the subject is, and as for the recent posts, (including this one) has nothing to do with the subject at hand. But who cares..... I just confused myself in my own post. . I just gave myself a backhand.

Re: EGR temp sensor has been discontinued

It shouldn't matter since I think most older cars like ours are exempt from emissions right? Here in Missouri if your car is 1996 or older you're exempt from emissions but not safety inspections.

If only that was true everywhere. AZ is 1966 or older to be exempt or insured as a limited use collector car. Everything else goes through various emissions tests based on age.

Dang, they sure are making money off of people then. Over here I pay $23/month full coverage insurance on my IROC-Z & I don't have to do emissions but I HAVE to keep the emissions parts on the car I think.

Hello Chevy86 IROC-Z!!

I'm always trying to help out fellow thirdgeners!!

I didn't throw you under the bus for a discontinued part!!

I saved you from the raging mob of discontinued parts chasers!!!

On a serious note, I checked autopartauctions.com and found nothing this time, they must have all been bought up!!

You should have bought one for $50.00 in December/January like y84pauloflondon, and I did!!

Good Luck! A fellow member tried Many different dealers already, and of course... no part could be found. The problem is that the dealers don't always keep their part supply listings up to date!!!!
