ok i bought an 89 gta a few weeks ago and the guy i bought it from said there was a street/strip chip in it, he didn't know the make of the chip. well yesterday i decided to get a new custom chip from pcm4less. they wanted to know some 4 letter code on the pcm so i went to look for it. well i found it and decided to see if i could deturmin what chip he had put in before. to me and a bud it looks like it was never opened. what does an aftermarket chip look like? all i culd see was a blue chip with no writing on it. any thoughts would be appreciated.

 

Some of the reuse the stock carrier and cover, so it looks like an original chip even if its been changed. Inside one of the two holes you can see the main chip (its bigger, there are two smaller ones) and that one should have a 4 digit number and 4 digit letter code on it, silver sticker, black type. If thats gone, might not be the original chip in there like the previous owner told you.
