Is 160 Stat hurting my ET?
So, I guess I should have done some research on here before putting in my 160 degree thermostat. Heck, I figured cooler engine, better performance. So after some reading on here, I see maybe it isn't a good idea. For what it's worth, I drive it maybe once a week, in summer months only. Maybe twice a month at the dragstrip. It is usually 90 or so degrees there on the pavement. So, should I switch to a 180? Like I siad, I only drive in the summers, which are about 80 to 90 degrees a day. Oh yea, I don't care about gas mileage.

A 160 is on the cold side, but it's only the temp it opens at. The temp the fans are set to will have more to do with actual running temp (except when highway cruising).

usually a 160 stat will not go into closed loop withough some tunning done.... also that stat isnt really recommend for a daily driver.... 180 is the best for our cars......
