Fan relay and wire help

Hi guys. I know this is the wrong board but I was hoping that someone can tell me the type of relay and what the cut wires are use for (one of them is for the fan relay but how is it wired)? PO jerry rigged the heck out of this one. The fan stopped working. So I followed the wires from the fan and it lead to this junk circled in white. I took off the black tape and found what your seeing. Any help would be great. Also if anyone can provide pictures of they're actual relay, would be very much appreciated. The correct board is here..... https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...ml#post4427948

The fan relay

would have been mounted up by the brake booster originally wouldn't it have? The relay should have had a green/white - orange - red - black/red - black set of wires going to it

green/white - ground from fan temp switch
orange - battery feed
red - ignition
black/red fan motor
black fan motor

Re: Fan relay and wire help

In your first pic, the wires on the left that come out of the loom, the green/white wire is the fan trigger from the ecm. the brown/white wire supplies 12v to the relay. you'll need to find a plug for the relay and a relay
and wire it according to this diagram. the diagram is for the dual fans but the wiring is similiar.
I had to do this to my 86 when i first got it.
almost forgot, if your 86 is like mine it does not have a switch in the head, the fan is controlled only by the ecm

Great. Good info man. Yup, I got a 86 IROC Z but there is no 305, I dropped in a 350 Power Plant. I always wondered about the switch that goes into the heads. Now I know that there is none. Thanks bro
