Intake runners I need Help

Hey guys, today I bought some intake runners off a dude on craigslist, I think they're SLP, but he said he thought they were GMPP, can somebody help indentifying them, and I was also wondering if they will fit my 88' L98 because I know some runners are different for the newer engines, Thanks in advance

Some unfinished porting! You may want to finish up the bottom runner in the first pic.

Re: Intake runners I need Help

ok, I will probably have to send these to a machine shop then so they can finish the porting, is there anything specific I should ask them for like how much to take off, etc.

Re: Intake runners I need Help

GMPP used to sell the SLP runners... So yeah, they're SLP runners, they were just purchased over the counter from a GM dealer. The only difference between early and late runners is the cold start injector port.

Yes, they are SLP runners and you will waste your money porting them unless you do the same for the intake. The SLP & stock runners use the same intake gasket. Picture of SLP's on my engine.

Yea SLPs for sure! Looks like a good amount of port work has been done to them! I would just finish the port work yourselp vs payin some place to charge you a grip to finish them. how much of the runner walls have been takin out? the pics are dark and i cant see much

Re: Intake runners I need Help

hey you guys, Apparently these are for non cold start injector engines, my engine has the cold start injector, So I can either machine the flange to fit the injector, or sell them, so if anyone would be interested PM me with offers, these are brand new, they were never installed, might be willing to trade for the right set of shorties

Re: Intake runners I need Help

DJP, how does the hotchkis STB work with your runners?

I aks because I also have TPi with SLP runners and would prefer a STB that doesn't require modification and will clear the runners without the STB carving a valley into the runners/plenum as the engine moves.

Re: Intake runners I need Help

Yes they are slps` but the port work appears to not be finished at least on the bottom of one runner pictured.Buy a set of tpis large runner gaskets and match them to the runners ,plenum, and intake. If the opening is already bigger than the gasket take an exacto knife or razor blade.if the port is out of round or bigger than the gasket use a sharpie to mark the points you need to remove material. To remove the material it will take a little money but much less than to DIY.You need a mini die grinder or pneumatic grinding tool with a carbide tip.Thats what I used to remove the aluminum, and we removed alot.Sanding rolls will polish it up for you.You want to match all points of connection where the runners meet plenum and lower intake base or you`re not going to see much gains,if any.I wouldnt sell them if you cany get it all done right now.Stick them in storage till you can afford the rest of the intake parts, headers and whatever you want.If you got a good deal....hold on to them. Here is a link to a thread where some pics of my slp runners are.Mine are towards the end of the thread.https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...ners-more.html

I did have to add(1/8") of aluminum shims under the two STB mounting points to ensure clearance over the thottle body. Outside of that there were no other problems with clearances. You might be able to see them in this picture.

IDk, is 25 bucks a good deal for runners they were pretty cheap,, but after going over it with my dad, I am probably just going to send one to the machine shop and have the injector seat drilled into the flange, there seems to be enough space on it

When I bought my SLP runners there was no mention of the cold start being a issue. Installed mine and had no problem with the cold start injector.

Well I just checked the SLP site and they make NO reference for a Cold start injector. I don't recall of any problems with the installation and I have the cold start injector & bought them from SLP 8yrs ago. Take a look at the base of the runners and they are about the same as stock and they use the same gasket.

Well my issue was that there was no hole for me to put the cold start injector, but we made it today and we should be installing them tomorrow
