will taking off air pump trigger computer?
i have a 89 camaro iroc-z 5.7 350 tpi and i want to get headers, little problem if i get headers i wont be able to get to passanger side spark plugs from under the car! so leaving everything the way it is id have to pull the motor for tune up... not going to happen. i dont really know the whole thing behind the airpump (if i take the airpump out will my computer go haywire and check engine light come on?) (what does this airpump do exactly what is the cause and effect of taking it out? i know i would need like a 1 inch longer belt without it. if you could give me links to sites to read about it would be nice to.

You'd never know it was gone if you took it out.

Not at all. In my 86 IROC, I took out the A.I.R. pump, solenoids. The two wires/connections that plug into the air diverter valves are just hanging around
. I even decided to run without a cat. because my IROC is emissions exempt. So no bro, it wont trigger the SES light. One thing to keep in mind though. If you buy headers, try to get some that have the O2 sensor as close as possible to the heads because if the O2 sensor is far below, close to the down pipe connection, then the exaust is not as hot that far down into the headers. That means that the O2 sensor will probably send false info to the ECM. Im not sure how it'll effect, but I read it somewhere so call up Summit Racing and ask for their advice, thats what I do sometimes.
