Car: 1986 Trans-Am/2005 Pontiac Grand Pr
Engine: TPI 305
TPI.Hard start
I have a 1986 T/A with the TPI and when I start it I have to hold the peddle to the floor and after it starts it won't idle but it will rev and when I put it in gear it stalls any idea's?

Mine does the same. I believe its a weak fuel pump. If my tank gets to under a ⅓ it has fuel delivery issues.

Any trouble codes? Is the SES light on? hard start can be a few things but usually it's the ignition system. May need new wires, plugs, and new dizzy guts. Holding the peddle to the floor to get it to start means that when you give some pedal, your opening the throttle plates thus allowing more air into the engine, BUT, also you are opening up the TPS. So my first thing that I would so is tune up the TPI system. Here are two good links for you. Tune the TPI system, then get back at me if the issue is still there at hand. Good Luck bro.
