hi, im new here. been a long time camaro fan and owner. i do have a question though. pretty sure i already know the answer.
first off i bought a 1988 iroc camaro with 72000 miles. i only paid $2200 for it so im not afraid to throw some money at it. it will start fine but after it settles sometimes it will run really rough at about 500 rpms. if you baby it, it will start to run fine. sometimes though the check engine light will come on and it will run good. not sure whats going on there. codes point to MAF but it is supposedly new. also changed the ecm. has a new maf pigtale as well. if i unplug the mass air sensor it runs fine. pretty sure its the maf but wanted to see if anything else could be wrong. the volts to the sensor are .5 at idle and 4.2 at wot. fuel pressure is fine.

 

so i messed around with it a little bit, the codes are 33, 34, and 36. did some relay swapping and still no good. looks more and more like a maf but is there anything else i should check?

 

probably not. sounds like you nailed it with the MAF.
a tune up never hurt though, and check the distributor while your at it. my 89 has a rusted *** dizzy and it didnt run well at allllll.

 

the distributor is also new, so i'm pretty sure its the maf. is there a better option for a sensor than the original one. they don't seem too reliable from the searches that i have done.
