cold idle/sticky throttle issue?

Hey guys, iv got an 88 formula 5.0, and iv got a cold idle/sticky throttle problem. When i first start it up in the mornings it likes to start for a second then stall. it will to this two or three times before it will idle without stalling. once its started in has a fluctuating idle between about 300 and 1500 rpm until warm. it also has a sticky throttle problem that im wondering if its related or not. sometimes while cruising down the road when i clutch in to shift the rpms will not go down or raise a little, and ill have to blip the throttle to make it go back to normal. Im thinking i have an IAC problem or a vaccum leak, but i just wanted a second opinion before spending money i dont have

Yep. That's a vacuum leak.

Re: cold idle/sticky throttle issue?

The sticky throttle is most likely your TPS Throttle Position Sensor.

The erratic idle could be a vacuum leak but I doubt that would cause the stalling at start up.

When its warmed up does it ever stall on a re-start? If not then it might be the cold start injector not working.

Are there any trouble codes?

Pull the vacuum hose from the Fuel Pressure Regulator (FPR) and see if any gas leaks from it. A leaking FPR could cause the stall at start up. There should be no gas at all in the vacuum line or FPR port.

Ill check my vaccum lines today, as for when warm.. it always starts right up. it only gives me starting problems when cold. and has never thrown a code. could it be MAF? if so iv got a new one in storage somewere.

Re: cold idle/sticky throttle issue?

Since you have another MAF, go ahead and switch them. If nothing else it will rule that out.
