tpi idea
hi guys i have a question bout an engine that im gonna build, one day, im gonna run tpi, so i came to those who know it best.
the eng ine specs like this. 383 stroker, vortec heads, a comp roller cam 210 .560 intake, 218 .555 exhuast.
my question is on the ecm. instead of the stock ecm and batch fire setup. is it possible to take the harness and ecm off a mpfi off a 454. in doing this obtain seqentional fire, obd2, and i assume that the factory fueling for a low performance BBC would be enough for a stroked small block.
is this sensible or even possible? or am i better off sicking with the stock tpi stuff? this is gonna be for my 76 k10 truck, for off roading, towing, hunting and whatever else seems fun at the time.
any info would be greatly apprecited thanks yall

Re: tpi idea
Sorry for being a little off topic, but two things to mention:
- The factory TPI intake will be a big restriction for a well built 383 engine because without porting work it can't even supply a factory 350 engine after 4500 RPM with enough air. Maybe it is better to go with an aftermarket intake setup such as the Holley Stealth Ram.
- The 210/218 cam also seems to bit a bit small for a nice 383 engine.
Also some good information to check: http://xtremecarzone.com.au/index.php?showtopic=386

If you want sequential fire, obdII and all that read this sticky on the top of this TPI board. This might be what your looking for.Just click this link.

I think tpi would be great for what you want the truck to do.Maybe go aftermarket tpi with a little porting for more power.I bought my aftermarket tpi stuff for about 400 bucks and ported it myself.I`d love to put tpi on my 4x4.hope this helps and good luck.Oh,and welcome to tgo.

Re: tpi idea
i looked into aftermarket base plates and plenums and hit the floor when i saw the prices, i was planning on porting everything just gotta collect parts. and i was looking into sequentional for the low end and slighty better economy. a 4spd and 3.73 gears arent exactly hi mpg parts. every little bit helps. the coil on plug is really sick but out of knowledge range, i know carbs and diesels, efi im kinda iffy on. just know the basics of operations.

The Holley Stealth Ram is the way to go with a 383.
The price is reasonable and it will make more HP than any long-runner set up, ported or not.

Re: tpi idea
well thats all well and good but the point of choosing tpi is for the long runners to produce torque, i could careless bout high HP numbers, i want highn TQ numbers. this is goin into a truck, a real truck. its not in the weeds or on the drag strip its out the woods on a muddy strip. no offense to anyone but the tpi shouldve been in trucks and the the cars shouldve had a ram stlye set-up, know what i mean? if i stay with the tpi ecm, would i be better with maf or map?
