Gas Tank

I got a quick question. I have a 84 camaro rs that i will be putting an 85 TPI 305 motor in. My question is are the fuel tanks the same? I just want to be able to drop a new fuel sending unit and pump in the 84 tank. Does this sound right?

Re: Gas Tank

Everything will fit, but the tank from a fuel injected car has a pan on the inside of the tank to keep fuel around the fuel pump. A carb car (i'm guessing your 84 would be) doesn't have a pan in the tank. Might have fuel issues when running low on gas.

Not true! 89-92 has the pan in them. I had an 85 Z28 TPI an it didn't have it. Any tank will work fine. Just don't run it to low.
