Small tube on the TPI runner?
Can anyone tell me what the small tube on the runner is for? I took mine apart to change the injectors and that tube was almost completly clogged with deposits. I took it to the machine shop to get them and the plemun cleaned and when I went to pick it up he said that the hole that the small tube connects to on the plenum (which is a channel that runs under it and exits from two holes directly behind where the throttle body connects) was completly clogged. Just wanted to know what this was for, and what ill effects would be noticed from it being completly clogged??

pre 89 for egr and cold start injector i believe. If you have a 89 or up, its probably just for EGR

Pass side runner tube is for EGR on all TPI
Drv side tube is CSI on early years

OK then, I guess it is the EGR tube, wonder if it being clogged would make it throw the EGR code when cruising on the highway? It had been doing that for awhile only when on the highway, but would be out the next time I started it.

Because if exh gas is not flowing through the tube, the EGR temp sensor would not heat up and operate.
The computer looks for the temp sensor operating when it turns the EGR on and if it doesn't see it; it throws a 32 code

Gaskets on wrong side would probably result in vacuum leak ( High or rough idle, lean condition when running, backfiring, to name a few).

yup...previous owner had two right side gaskets as I suspected. Pics of the pass side runner EGR blocked some
