VSS info this needs to be a sticky!!!!

I just got done doing a TPI swap and i ran across an issue with my idle bouncing and engine stalling when i let off the throttle quickly.
My two TPI swapping books I have never covered the VSS in depth and what it was actually needed for.
Anyways, I was concerned with this VSS issue maybe causing a problem, so i did some searches here, on this site and came across a few discussions on the topic, some saying you need it, others saying you don't.
The most convincing of the two made it sound like I didn't need it since i would be running a T5.
Well sure enough I most certainly need a VSS fro the way my L98 is acting.
I Read up on it and finally found this article that i think explains the VSS quite well and why we need one, EVEN WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION!
