Re: 86 TPI & 90 TPI help

Why would you want to do that?

You could put it on there, but there are a couple issues with doing that. The center 4 bolts will not line up right so you would need to elongate those holes, and the 90 intake does not have provisions for the cold start valve on your 86 so you would need to at least change to an 89 prom.

Use the complete setup and get a chip for an 89 350 with the VATS turned off and you will be just fine. Keep it simple.

Re: 86 TPI & 90 TPI help

the reason im asking this is because i have a complete 1990 350 tpi and i have a complete 1986 305 tpi i took the tpi off the 1986 because some fake *** buster was gona buy it so now its just siting on the side of my car and a guy came to check out the 1990 350 tpi motor and only wanted the tpi but im selling that motor complete and i asked the question of changing tpi from those 2 motors so i can just sell him the one of the 1986 tpi and if it was compatible on a 1990 i know it has a cold start but u can block it off im not changing this to my car i preffer to sell the tpi i took off instead of taking the one of the 350 cause if he did nobody would want the 350 block with out the tpi

Re: 86 TPI & 90 TPI help

Simple solution is put them on the year engine they belong on. If you dont, you're going to have to modify both bases to fit the heads. Other than that and the cold start they're pretty much identical.
