Fuel Lines

I got a 84 Camaro that i will be putting my rebuilt 355 tpi into. Question is Fuel lines, I am knew to this and right now there is just one rubber hose running to the front of the car that fed the carb. What would be the best way for me to run a fuel line and return line for the new tpi? Any help is appreciated, like i said i am new to all this and don't wanna cut corners when it comes to funning fuel lines.

Re: Fuel Lines

Buy a pre bent hard line kit for a FI car or get a big spool of SS braided hose.

Re: Fuel Lines

DO NOT USE CHEAP BRAIDED LINE!

I've seen this 100 times if I saw it once. We sell line that is XRP, and is about $6 a foot. I will not sell that cheap crap.

What happens is the rubber compound gets crappy and fuel seeps through the line. One customer in PA smelled gas all the time, he narrowed it down to the cheap line. IT WAS ALWAYS WET!

It is dangerous, do not go cheap on fuel line. PERIOD.

I expect responses that say "I used cheap summit crap and never had a problem"....well good for you. But I have said this over and over, if I will not put it on my car, I would not put it in yours.

So if you care at all about safety do not use cheap crap, I don't care how it's rated.

But the problem is your opinion is always askew are you are here to sell stuff; I am not trying to make money making a suggestion. [ I should charge though for my pieces of wizdom] And being a salesmen, you cannot be trusted Never meet a successful one that didn’t have their own view on reality that made everything they were selling the best n the greatest and they believed it to the fullest, even if it was wrong. [ call for a visit from a rainbow and a kerby vacuum cleaner salesmen]

I can prove that in more relevant terms though, call a up Summit salesmen n see what he says about that line You both would turn blue countering each others points, as you both knew you were right, he was wrong, and what ever each of you are selling is the best.

Though when I said buy a spool, any kind from cheap to pricey can be bought on a spool to save money when you need allot. Unless you use someone who only does it by the ft at higher prices

[I’m so totally screwing with ya but not to be mean so don’t get upset, done allot of sales jobs, known allot of salesmen.]

----------

I like mostly large hard lines with section of SS on the ends for flex like a brake system.

You know what? You are right. I agree 100%. IN fact, those who have known me for a few years know that I hold people trying to take money on a forum to a higher standard of proof than I do "joe forum guy". I hold myself to the same standard. If I'm going to take your money, I better demonstrate that what you are getting is what you are paying for. The day I tell you I have some magic 30 Pound injectors that will net you 50 HP over any other injector in the market, you have every right to kick my *** and expect me to back that up. I expect it. If I feed you a line of bullshit to validate my position, then I expect to be run out of the forum.

But how about this.

I'll give you the name of someone else to buy good line from, don't buy it from me. I don't care if you buy the line from me, just don't buy cheap line. Find some good XRP line. OR do a search and go buy good line. I don't want that business if it's going to cast doubt on my motivations in this case. This is an isue of safety and for the pennies I'd make on the deal, I don't really care where he buys it. How much you think is in a $35-50 deal anyway? Not enough to take the risk.

And another thing, I suggest you talk to the numbers of people I spoke to personally on the phone, and via PM, and you ask them if my goal is to seperate them from their money.

That being said, yes, yes it is. I need to make a living too. But I have never recommended people buy something they don't need. If you take the time to ask, and not with shills and hacks responding, I think you'll find my private conversations with people will back that up. And I never mis represent anything I have sold either. I have had more conversations from this forum off line where people didn't buy something, but may at some point in the future. Maybe they will, maybe they won't. IDK.

What you really have to look at is vendors that just pop up when it's time to sell something. When someone says "I need an injector" I'm there. But it's not the only time I am there. I think your skepticism should be reserved for those vendors who ONLY comment when there is a product to be sold. And that's not what I do. So please, do not lump me in with those trolls. I'm not saying I never try to make a sale, like I said, I need to eat, but let's keep it in perspective.

I give thoughts, feedback, input based on my experience on a number of topics in a number of threads where I have no chance of selling anything. Go look at my history, you'll see that my participation here is far more slanted in the not buying something space, than the buying something space. Probably 70% non buying vs 30% buying if I had to guess.

I can prove that in more relevant terms though, call a up Summit salesmen n see what he says about that line You both would turn blue countering each others points, as you both knew you were right, he was wrong, and what ever each of you are selling is the best.
True, so you have to ask yourself who you believe, and who has the level of expertise to be credible. That's up to you. I just got an PM this morning from a member here thanking me for my input and how everything I told him turned out to be true. He bought NOTHING from me. ANd I'm ok with that. I put my background and experience out there for people to accept or not, and if you think my input has value, when it's time, buy something from me. That's what I ask. However, I also feel I am not here to provide free tech support either, if you buy something from another vendor, I leave the tech support to them if there's a problem.

Warren Buffet: Price is what you pay, value is what you get.

Though when I said buy a spool, any kind from cheap to pricey can be bought on a spool to save money when you need allot. Unless you use someone who only does it by the ft at higher prices

The reason I said by the foot is that he indicated he only needed the last couple feet.

I like mostly large hard lines with section of SS on the ends for flex like a brake system.
That's what he's doing, which is why I said by the foot. He only needs 6 feet or so, tops.
