Throttle cable style and lengths 85-88 vs 89-92
I have a TPIS throttle body I am installing. The thing is supposed to work for both the early "lug" mount throttle cable and the later "wrap around" throttle cable. See picture, it has both mounts.
My car has the old lug mount style throttle cable. It looks like the throttle body is really setup to correctly use the wrap around style cable. My throttle cable comes out of the plenum bracket and aligns perfectly with the groove for the wrap around mechanism. It is to far inboard to correctly attach to the lug. As a result, when I connect it to the lug, the cable rubs on the back of the wrap around channel.
Could I just swap out a later "wrap around" throttle cable and use that style? It looks like it would need to be 1.5" longer than the cable I have now. Does that sound like it would work? Are the connections into the plenum bracket correct for the newer style cable?

See the throttle cable rubbing at the back?
Thanks,
John

The '89-'92 cable worked great. And it brought the gas pedal off the floor a bit, which is good.
