88 Camaro Cold Start leak 2.8

Hey guys, this is my first thread and I don't want to do a swap so don't just tell me to chuck my v6.
I have a 1988 Camaro, and I took it out on the highway and got it up to about 100, when I need to slow down quickly, and put it into second to slow it down, shifted back into Drive, and it died. I pulled to the side of the road, and started it back up and got home with no problem. The next day I was on the way to work, when it started knocking. I have checked the lifters and replaced the timing chain, and there were no problems. I know it is not a rod, because if it was a rod, it wouldn't go away. When I rev it up to about 2500, it will go away for about 10 seconds, and then come back, I had it idling at about 700, and it wasn't knocking either. I am thinking that it is piston slap. But when i removed the Cold Start valve, the seal was ripped, and now i have a gas leak. I have tried buying a new one, but GM has discontinued the part, along with the whole colld start assembly. Has anyone tried to fix this? Any ideas? I also have looked into a kit from a third party site, that bought up all the discontinued parts, and they are charging about 200 dollars for it, and that is ridiculous. Thanks in advanced

I couldn't imagine down shifting to 2nd from 100mph, and since these ealy computers have no rev limiters, I suspect you over revved it and it may have valve train trouble. the cold start injector tube seal was availible from GM recently, but i found another in a bone yard.
