ok so heres the game i got a 78 vett 350 i want low 13s or mid 12 and it has to be a tpi set up sorry my head is set on it nothing crazy i would be happy with say 450 hp i have a 3.4 v6 dose 14s i know i need a trany and all but im worred about the vats and what other things should i take in to thot and im not shoure what cam to run i want some loop but not alot and some what good mpg i guess the v6 only gets 25 maybe idk any more so i asking u all what would u do and what do i need to know i have read alot of post but there seeams t be alot of miss info and im geting my tpi set up and wireing from a 89 i think maybe 87 vett?

450hp from NA TPI is a stretch. I'm probably about there with my extreme 355 and it was very spendy to build(heads about $1,400, intake pieces totaled $800, 7,000rpm bottom end $2,000, etc, etc, etc) you get the point. Ive got $30,000 invested, about $15,000 of that was in engine, trans and support pieces. And I've done all my own work, aside from engine machining.
You don't need 450hp to run 12s. The stock 350 TPI will run high 13s with a little massaging. With some porting work on the OE heads, base, and plenum, a cam swap, headers and some ECM tuning, you can easily make 350hp and run high 12s. Be realistic about your goals and stay on track as you choose parts.
The key to success, whatever motor you build, is don't skrimp on machine work. One guy spends 1,000s on go fast parts and ends up with a ruined engine after just a short time, another guy builds his beast using OE crank and rods and runs it for years with no issues. The difference is thorough block prep, balancing and clearancing of the rotating assembly, and of course a good oil pump. The total cost for this is about $1,000 at a good machine shop. It's worth every penny.

ok cool thanks for the tips and im thinking so fr of my 350 stock bore maybe lt1 pink rods and porting my 305 ho heads idk if i want to run a roller cam maybe flat top pistons i dont what to go higher then 9.5.1 in the cpr

Ain't gonna be anywhere near 450Hp then
Do a Google search and see what it takes to make 450Hp from a 350; as noted above even harder to do with a TPI of any kind

With iron heads, you don't want to go over 9.5cr, unless you have alot of money and time to play with chamber and port design and quench to tackle the detonation you can end up with. The 305HO heads have 58cc chambers and will push compression up towards 10.5:1 with flat top(double eyebrow)pistons. This could an issue for you. Many have done this successfully. Do a thread search for "305 HO heads" and see what you find.

i use to race 305s o stock parts but i never but any crazy money into one
the lt4 vett had pink rod bro thats not old school and this is a street motor that will see some track it will see boost down the road

Im sorry. We sort of left you hanging. My only admonition is on your use of 305 heads on the 350 block. I'm not saying don't do it, just be careful with your choice piston CC and be prepared to tear it down and redo it if you cant control detonation. Otherwise, sounds like a good plan. Be sure that the ECM harness you buy is in good shape. Broken and missing connectors can be an issue. Also, it is helpful to have a good set of diagrams for both the vehicle the system is going into and the donor vehicle.
