Knock sensor problems
Knock sensor problems
I have done a TPI engine swap. Due to clearance issues I put on hugger headers to clear wheel wells and engine mounts. When I hooked up sensors and modules, I put the Knock Sensor into the head on the passenger side right in front of the starter. The block coolant outlet was blocked by the header.
My question is: Would it be better to run a 3.9K resistor instead of a KS, so that the EST module will not retard timing when it senses the valves making noise in normal operation? I was reading forums and someone said that running a 3.9K resistor will bypass the KS.... I have only driven my truck around town and it seems to run fine...haven't taken it out on the open road...up and down grades, etc... I don't know how it runs on a trip... I don't want to make this engine run incorrectly due to the KS being in the incorrect place~~~into the head instead of into the block...
