Ok. The new motor for my car is on the stand. I'm putting it together a little at a time while my car is out getting the cage installed. I'm getting to the finishing touches which leads me to some issues. Frankly, the more and more I deal with this, the more and more I'm just getting pissed off. I've got a bigger throttle body I'm putting all the sensors and BS on. Took, the IAC/Coolant assembly off and cut off the coolant part of it, blasted it, and painted it. Looks great.

My issue is this:

DOES ANYONE SELL THE DAMNED GASKET TO PUT THIS BACK ONTO THE TB?

I've went to about every single parts store around here trying to find just the one gasket I need. I'm sure a lot of you, like me, have a billion TB, EGR, and Distributor gaskets, and don't really feel the need to had to the giant stack I already have. Which leaves me to the next question?

WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SECOND TB GASKET THAT ALWAYS COMES IN THE KIT FOR? DID THEY MAKE 2 DIFFERENT STYLES OF THROTTLE BODYS OR SOMETHING?

i had the same questions, i used the non cardboard looking one. lol Maybe its a spacer?

 

The 85-89 Throttle Bodies have the triangle in it for the IAC where the later 90-92 (speed density) ones don't.

 

I too am having gasket issues. 1989 TPI. New TB, new IAC, and the car won't idle. and I went through the idle procedure 10 times. I pull it apart, and I see there are 2 different gaskets. We'll call them open and closed.

I see the closed gasket totally blocks the IAC air, where as the open gasket lets the air through the TB into the plenum.
