hey guys..

my cars been doing this off and on for about 2 months or so now..

i turn the ignition on and the ses light stays solid the whole time and the primary fan kicks on and when i start it, it idles high and when its put in gear, just wants to stall out.

but get this..

i take the ecm fuse out..take the prom out of the ecm and put it back in..put the fuse back in
and it runs perfect...

its like..something that clicks in the ecm after about a week

its almost like..the ecm is grounded as if i was trying to get codes out of it but when i actually try and get codes, it just stays solid and i cant communicate with the ecm

i know its not a bad ecm, for sure. its gotta be wiring somewhere right?

 

oh! and all the grounds are good under the hood...

 

have been told it may be my PROM...its an aftermarket one from the local tuner

 

It could be that your ECM takes a while to sense a problem. It could be a sensor starting to go bad, but just marginally bad. That's when it turns the SES light on, which activates limp home mode. When you remove the fuse, the ECM resets itself, slowly picks up the problem and the cycle starts again.

You need to find what trouble codes you have.

 

it wont throw codes...what sensor would it be? ive replaced soooo many just trying to fix this...

 

Either the ECM or the MEMCAL is bad (the PROM being included as part of the MEMCAL).

If the SES doesn't do the blink at key-on, engine-off then the ECM isn't running from the PROM. It is in limp mode. Which has nothing to do with any sensors.

I checked the PROM many spots were FF.
Reburned it
