IAC Valve Cover/housing - broken screws
I had my TB off to replace the intake manifold and it looked like the gasket on the IAC Valve cover was leaking a bit so I went to take it off. The bolts must have gone brittle because 4 of them broke with no effort at all. Now what?
Is it going to be cheaper to buy a TB than have a machine shope extract the screws?

Sounds good.
I tried pulling it off but it would not come, I started to think the bolts were threaded right through the cover as well. Will take a closer look.

Yeah, that cover sees coolant. When the cooling system hasn't been well maintained, areas like that corrode. I'm guessing that the leak you saw was coolant. You may have a difficult time seperating those peices and if you do succeed in getting at the screws, they are likely fused to the aluminum housing by electrolysis. You might try removing all electrical components and placing the assembly in a pot of penetrating oil and heating it up on a hot plate for several hours. Do it outside as there is a risk of fire. This may loosen things up some.

Thanks guys, I managed to pull it apart. got 2 of the 4 broken screws out. The other two I will let sit overnight with penetrating oil; they are a bit loose but I'd like play it safe.
