Have 2 Q's about evap can TPI 89 GTA
ok, so i was just inspecting the TA, and my evap canister is sitting next to the battery and cruise control on driver side, and all the lines run across to the passenger side. why the previous owner had it like this, not sure.
i dont know if it's the stock canister or not, i'll post a pic.
i tried finding pics of 89 GTA's to see where it was mounted, and i know its up on the passenger side by the strut tower. but what i dont know, is how it's mounted.
i inspected a bit for any sort of clamp/hook/clip/any-sort-of-thingie on my canister, and found nothing. but he has it wedged it, i'll have to take out upper rad hose to get it out, and dont want to make a mess right now haha.
and the AIR slot on my canister, where the F does that go? i've heard so many different things from on these sites, manuals, emission techs on where it goes. when i bought the car, it had a hose that was about 3 feet long, cut off on one end, connecting to nothing.
so if anyone can answer that, you'd pretty much be my hero.

update. went over a few more pics. he's got the wrong air filter box in. the one he put in takes up that whole front part (where the canister goes)

i found pictures of where the can is supposed to go, (previous owner put in non-stock air box that is twice as big as it should be, which takes up the space where the can is supposed to be, which is between the air box and fender) and all i need now is to find out where the AIR nipple connects to. as well as the cruise control vacuum hose, if it connects to the vacuum ball.

Ya, for sure it's the SLP cai, trust me, don't switch it back to the stock one. But if you want a stock setup I have a full firebird one, with the tray and the air box.
You can move the charcoal cannister to under the passenger side battery tray, I did that this winter and it really looks slick.

yeah, one of the other lines goes to my TB. and the 2nd line goes to the tank. and the air line, who knows? emissions tech told me it was supposed to have a hose with a cresent shaped filter at the end (wtff???) and i showed him my diagram, it it does have a mark for vent, but is it really a vent???? all the other 3rd gens i've seen in the yards had different canisters, and cant seem to get a grasp on it. chilton says one thing. hood says another. emissions techs say another... yada yada yada.

The "Air" nipple gets no hose or filter- it jsut sits wide open. Just two lines- to the tank and to the vacuum fitting underside of the TB off the canister.
Moving the Firebird canister to the opposite side is common practice with aftermarket CAIs.
