Where to place o2 sensor??

I have recently bought a Lc1 wideband kit. Where is the best place to install the wideband sensor on some headers and Y-pipe??

At the time I just replaced the stock o2 sensor with the wideband but I just feel that it would be more realistic AFR if I make a hole on the Y-pipe before the catalytic converter.

Any suggestions here??

It would be best to install it after the merge in the y-pipe. I have mine installed right in front of the cat and it is working fine.

I will try to do that then. I will just plug the stock o2 sensor hole and then drill a new and weld in a bung before the converter but after the merge on the y-pipe. Thanks for responding.

Are you planning to use the wideband to feed the ECM instead of the stock o2? Most people leave the stock o2 in place and just add the wideband further back.

Also, when you install the new bung, make sure it is no lower than the middle of the pipe. The sensors apparently do not like moisture.

I am using the wideband to feed the ECM today because I have just replaced the stock o2 sensor with the wideband sensor. I just feel that should to the same work as the stock sensor??

Yes it should work fine. I know some people have had to goof around a bit to get the the ECM to like the signal. For this reason I decided retain the stock o2 sensor and just use the lc1 for tuning. If you are currently using the lc1 and it is playing well with the lc1, then I guess you are good to go.

87350IROC you just made my day happy. I assume this why my ECM is getting troubles reading the o2 sensor signal.

You see I installed the Lc1 kit about 4 months ago and it worked out fine. I datalogged the car and it was in closed loop all the time.
Last week when I was going to take the car for a ride the car jumps in and out of closed loop all the time. At idle, it is in open loop. Light cruising, still in open loop. Kick the gas pedal a little and it goes to closed loop. And then again goes back to open loop. I have double checked the wiring and everything so I am sure that there are no bad connections.

Mayby this is the answer to my frustration here. That the wideband is having trouble sending the o2 signal to the ECM. It took 4 months before I noticed it but I guess I would just have to buy a new heated sensor and then install a bung with the wideband sensor in the Y-pipe.
Thanks again for the reply.

No problem. But why not just install a stock o2 in the stock hole in the header?

I am just afraid that the headers are not HOT enough to enagage the o2. But I can try of course.

What headers are you using. I am using SLP shorties with no perceived issues.

I am using Hooker 2055HKR headers. Then followed by a Catco 9118 high flow converter and a magnaflow exhaust system.
