90 Degree Air Intake

Hello,

I'm looking to come off the OE throttle body on a 1990 L98 TPI with a factory boot in 90 degree to route an air filter away from the hot radiator air. I've heard that the LT1 boots were available in 90 degree. Is this so or does anyone have a source for a 90 degree boot. This is a MAP set up so no MAF to deal with. I would prefer the GM part if available and not too costly.

Thanks in advace for any help...

You could use a Firebird TPI intake tube as well.

L98 or LT1 and what year? I looked at a 1994 LT1 intake diagram at the dealer yesterday and the boot had a large opening facing down that I would have to plug. Very unsightly and depending on which way I turned the boot the opening may end up on the top side.

L98/LB9 from '88 to '92. They look the same on both sides too.
Here's a pic of mine to give you an idea of what it looks like.

Hey thank you but at the risk of sounding like a dummy, are you saying I can go to the dealer and ask them for a intake boot for a 1989 to 92 L98 or LB9 and that is what it would be?

The boot starts at the throttle body and ends right after the 90 degee bend. The rest of the black tubing on my car is the MAF which you can replace with 3" diamiter pipe or whatever the '91-'92 cars used between the filter and the elbow. The polished aluminum pipe is obviously aftermarket. When you order it make sure you specify that it's for a Trans Am with TPI from those years.

yup. 88-89-90 has them.. factory your LT1 boot is the standard boot with the hole 4 the air silencer. The 1LE boot has the hole filled. I used to have a pt# 4 it..

Thanks guys for the help...I'll call the dealer and see if they have the boot for a 88-90 Trans Am TPI. I afraid to find out what it costs from them and/or if GM still makes it. If not I'll try the 1LE...any idea what cars 1LE came in?

Re: 90 Degree Air Intake

I bought mine 3 or 4 years ago for around $50cnd IIRC. The dealership didn't have stock but the wearhouse did.

1LE is the RPO for the racing package on f bodies. To order that boot just ask for one that came on a '94-'97 Camaro or Trans Am with the 1LE package.

UPDATE....went to the local GM dealer and asked for the intake boot under that specific year and RPO. As I would guess....discontinued from GM. Looking at other options in generic rubber 90 degree boots.

Thanks for your help
