Code 42&43
Code 42&43
Hello all. I am at the end of a tip swap in my 64chevelle ( giving it to my dad) and I am getting a code 42 &43. I have all new sensors including the distributor and injectors. I have the dizzy plugged in in the rear . Timing set at 6 with it unplugged . I also have 5 volts to the knock sensor.
My ohm readings on the knock sensor are around 1. I believe they should be around 3 from everything I read. So I am thinking I have the wrong knock sensor.
I just want to see if that seems like the problem to everyone before I go drop another chunk of money on a new knock sensor.
Also when I start the car and have my scanner on it. If I give a few knocks on the exhaust manifold with a hammer the scanner is saying yes to a knock.
The motor and injector rail is 86 5.0 liter. I switched the wiring and computer to a speed density system.
I have been reading and it seems the code 43 sets a code 42 a lot of times.
So would I be correct to think if I get the right knock sensor everything should be good.
Thanks
