Did intake gaskets, now I've got REAL problems!

I've got an 87 IROC 5.7l TPI I just did the intake manifold gaskets on. Now the car fires right up on the first crank but it runs like s***, and I can hear a sound like I've got a massive vacuum leak but I can't find it! Besides the 4 or 5 outlets on the plenum and the pcv fitting on the manifold where could the vacuum be coming from?

Also what do you guys have your timing set to?

I would go back over every hose and the plenum again. Just move slowly. Another trick you could try is spraying some soapy water along the plenum. Any air leaks will show up as bubbles. Worth a shot.

You could also spray starting fluid or carb cleaner over and around the plenum and runners, to locate a vacuum leak. The rpms will increase noticeably if you spray over a vacuum leak. Probably the plenum or runner gaskets are leaking.

Check the cold start injector. I accidentally installed mine at some funny angle, tweaked the mounting bracket, and caused a huge vacuum leak.

Hope this helps.
