vacuum line problems!!!

i bought a 1987 IROC with an 88 IROC 5.7L TPI setup. the motor seems to be installed in pretty good shape. the problem is that when they swapped everything over, they just cut wires and some vacuum lines. the motor will start and idle just fine, but as soon as you start to throttle it, the motor cuts out and wants to die unless you let off. any opinions>

Re: vacuum line problems!!!

I will go dig through my note books, I had a similar problem with my '88. There was a 3 way valve that was broken and caused it to do that.

Re: vacuum line problems!!!

Its not vacuum lines. It wont cause it to want to die unless like every line is disconnected.. It would idle alot higher and you would hear a vacuum leak. But anyway, you have your brake booster vacuum line, PCV valve vacuum line, FPR line and the check valve the poster above mentioned. It would come off the passenger side rear part of the plenum and go to the valve directly. from the valve one line would go to the hvac controls and the other would wrap around the back of the motor splitting off at the cruise control. One line would go to the cruise and the other would go to the vacuum ball inside the driver side inner fender. On the EGR valve theres a vaccum line that goes to the egr silonoid and also the line from the bottom of the TB to the silonoid. Dont get that confused with the breather tube on the side of the TB. The last vacuum line is from the charcoal canister to the side of the tb just under the breather orrfice.
