L98 rebuild. first time removing and rebuilding an engine outside of school
so i'm pulling the engine on my gta. leaks like a *****, and the starter or something went out on it and i need to remove the exhaust anyway, also want to clean up some of the bad wiring. and this will be my first engine pull on this car.
what are some tips you people have? what to watch out for? do i need to pull the engine and trans together, or can i leave the trans in? i'm removing the heads too, anything i have to watch out there too? will i need to retime the engine once it's put back together?
all the advice will be much appreciated. thanks!

Try to keep your question to one thread in one forum of the site
what are some tips you people have?
Take it out the bottom, everything still attached
what to watch out for?
The usual suspects when removing an engine
do i need to pull the engine and trans together, or can i leave the trans in?
Whatever you prefer, but together is easiest
i'm removing the heads too, anything i have to watch out there too?
Dont forget to clean the bolt holes out. Not a bad idea for the heads to hit the machine shop for a valve job
will i need to retime the engine once it's put back together?
Yes
