Car Craft 1991 Article INJECTION PERFECTION
Now that I have a TPI car I decided to go thorugh some of my old magazines looking for articles for upgrades. This is from Car Craft 1991 and it might help some and some might say, this is crazy but I like pictures of some of these "upgrades" guys post on here. I am new to the TPI thinkg and truly not even sure what all the part names are for the setup but I WILL know soon.

That's interesting.
Never heard of anyone porting the TPI Throttle Body and putting in larger butterfly valves.
Anyone here tried this?

Yup, best to ignore extra power, until your competition beats you.
Did this to mine in the early 90s

What is the choke point then?
Do you mean the runners or manifold ports?

Did anyone else read the article? Supposedly a bored throttle body, computer chip, and K&N filters freed up 15hp and allowed the engine to pull strong to 5500rpm, all for less than $500. They're trying to sell these mods, when it's well known that bored throttle bodies and commercial chips are a waste of money. A simple throttle body change is not going to change the tuned RPM range of the intake.
The article is just as bad as all the free/cheap mods that have been discussed ad nauseum. It's not completely useless information, but it's a waste of time and money for most people looking for a bit more power.
It's just dated info, and not all that applicable in the modern world. Go ahead and buy a cheap generic chip, an expensive big bore throttle body, and some K&Ns. Dyno it before and after and report back if you get anywhere close to a 15hp improvement at the wheels. Run it down the track before and after, let us know if the car actually traps any faster... Any improvement is going to be marginal to the point of being barely recognizable.
